We visit the SI/CP outlets in Northern Italy each season, and we can spot a fake S.I item at fourteen arms length. So we made this guide for people who buy cheap ‘’raso gommato’’ jackets that are all wrong and would make Massimo Osti RIP (s.i designer) turn in his grave.
This is how an art Number appears.
Art 39154n40/1807
The first 2 numbers (39 in this example indicate the year. 2007 being 46 & 47 every descending or ascending number depicts a season. So 44 = spring/summer & 45 Autumn/Winter and so on.
The second 2 numbers (15) are the brand.
14 Stone Island denims
15 Stone island,
18 CP Company
The next number (4) indicates what the item is,
1 Shirts,
2 T-shirts
3 Trousers
4 Jacket
5 Knitwear
6 Sweatshirts
9 Accessories
Note- Occaionally on the number is replaced by a letter. This is when it’s a Flagship Model.
The letter (N) is the model.
The next 2 (40) are the cloth & Treatment that is used to make the item. The sportswear Company, ultimate owners of SI & CP own the copy rights to thousands of materials, colours, dye processes and techniques. Everything after the / is related to dye numbers and colour.
Once upon a time all SI/CP was manufactured in Italy, but that now is not the case.
The cloth for the garments are still predominately made in Italy. The country of origin labels always appear on the internal SpA label and they will state either Made in Italy, Tunisia or Rumania. If there is no country of origin then it is a fake. Sometimes the labels are dyes the same colour as item, but you will stil be able to read it.
We hope this guide helps.
